Lüderitz Blue School Mural
On Workers’ Day 2024, I helped facilitate the community painting of a mural outside the @luderitzblueschool. The day before, I projected the design onto the wall and drew outlines to guide our brushes. On the day, we were joined by parents, teachers, students and community members excited to play their part in creating this big piece of art in their town.
It was so fun watching this design come to life so quickly. On the days to follow, myself and two assistants worked to complete and perfect the mural before saying our goodbyes to this special town and it’s awesome people (and dogs!). Thank you to all the hands, big and small, who came out to paint with us on this unusually hot day in Lüderitz. A special thanks to local signwriter and muralist Weslin Visagie from Weslin’s Art & Sign’z who came in to assist with the completion of this project and a heartfelt thanks to my friend Caroline from @joyouslovephotography for capturing this experience in the most beautiful way, all while assisting to paint!
