I was recently asked to take part in a cheeky little project facilitated by Invoices of Reason. Invoices of Reason is an art & design movement inspired by the maddening fact that half of all freelancers in the creative industries are paid late. I was asked to contribute an invoice design in protest to this.
I decided on some illustrated lettering for my design.
My “Pretend this is from a doctor’s office and pay me!” idea stems from our struggle as creatives to charge our worth and get paid on time, where most other professionals in ‘non-creative’ industries are usually paid without question or negotiation. I really had fun with this one! The illustration was created digitally on my iPad using the Procreate app, and then layed out as invoice in Indesign.
To submit your own invoice in protest, you can email invoicesofreason@gmail.com for the brief. Check out @invoices_of_reason or www.invoicesofreason.com for some of the other submissions!
